Frequently asked questions

Is the consultation with a dietitian supported by the insurance?

If you are not diabetic or with renal dysfunction:

Yes, most mutuals take in charge for a minimum of two consultations and up to 10 visits per year for an amount supported by 10 to 25 Euros per consultation.

If you are diabetic or with renal dysfunction:

As approved by INAMI, you can be supported in the framework of a diabetes passport, or a “trajet de soins”. These documents will be granted under certain conditions and are signed by your doctor. They entitle you to 2 or 4 consultations largely repaid.

In addition, many mutual offer additional benefits to patients with diabetes or renal dysfunction, such as a greater number of consultations per year for which a portion of the amount will be refunded.

What is the difference between a doctor-nutritionnist and a dietitian?

The paramedical training of a dietitian is fully oriented toward nutrition, while the doctor-nutritionist is a doctor who has received special training in nutrition.
