A SPORTS DOCTOR : WHY ?

[01-02-2021] A SPORTS DOCTOR : WHY ?

A sports doctor: why?

Even though it is becoming more and more well-known, sports medicine is still subject to many misconceptions about its field of action.

Indeed, many patients often think that the sports doctor only deals with diagnosing and/or treating traumatic injuries to the musculoskeletal system. Some patients also hesitate to consult him, thinking that he is reserved for top-level sportsmen and women, which is not the case!

The sports doctor is, in fact, competent to examine all sportsmen and women, both regular and occasional practitioners, whatever their age and physical condition. It should also be noted that it can be beneficial for beginners to clarify the origin of injuries that may occur, particularly following training errors or improper use of equipment.

Due to his speciality, the sports doctor is aware of the specific injuries induced by each particular sport. He will also be competent to advise resting, resuming sport, or the use of complementary therapies (physiotherapy, etc.) the event of injuries.

At Medicis, Dr Maelyss Rommel, sports physician, consults by appointment on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
